I used 5 independent witnesses' affidavits (uncalled but ready to testify if needed) and photographs and video to prove ontologically that he was lying. I had him penned in like a veal calf going to slaughter, the judge was getting pissed and demanded I conclude my cross-examination.I told the judge I had two questions and I'd gladly ask them together. The judge assented.“Officer, just two questions and you can answer them both while I go sit at the defense table.”“Is there a big red S on your shirt under your uniform and do you miss Jor-El (Superman's Father)?The DA objected, the judge hammered me down, excused the jury, and the officer tried to get up from witness stand and the judge said“Sit right where you are so you don't catch a perjury charge.”Got yelled at for 5 minutes in robing room, the DA was told to withdraw the charges to avoid a mistrial, I took a probation violation plea to my client for time served (yeah, my client was not a good guy nor very smart), the jury was excused by the judge in the jury room (ie they never came back to the courtroom), and two sheriffs escorted me back to my office (I suspect the officer was excused and was told to return to his precinct and they were a bit concerned for my safety).I was still shaking when I got home hours later as apparently there was a concern the officer might come after me. The cop had a bad rep and he seemed pissed about the whole thing.
