Each state in the US has laws regarding piercing of minors.Piercing ear lobes is usually the only piercing a reputable piercer will do on a 13 year old - with a parent present (they sign a form).At 16 they may do a belly piercing with the parental in-person consent (they sign a form).At 18 you can get it yourself.What age is appropriate for a belly piercing? The California Conference of Local Health Officers shall establish sterilization, sanitation, and safety standards for persons engaged in the business of tattooing, body piercing, or permanent cosmetics. California Cal. Penal Code 653 Tattooing-Establishes that it is a misdemeanor for any person to tattoo or offer to tattoo anyone under age 18. California Body Piercing-Prohibits anyone from performing or offering to perform a piercing upon anyone under age 18 unless the piercing is performed in the presence of a parent or guardian or as directed and notarized by the minor's parent or guardian. Does not apply to emancipated minors and does not include pierces of the ear. Colorado Colo. Rev. Stat. § 25-4-2101 to 2103 Tattooing and Body Piercing-Prohibits anyone from performing a body art procedure on a minor unless the artist has received express consent from the minor's parent or guardian. Connecticut Conn. Gen. Stat. §19a-92g Tattooing-Establishes that it is illegal to tattoo an unemancipated minor under age 18 without the permission of the minor's parent or guardian. In California, it is illegal to pierce a minor (under the age of 18) without a parent being present or with a parent’s written and notarized consent, except for ears which do not require a parent’s consent. California Penal Code Section 652 Law sectionAt least in California your daughter may legally have her ears pierced without the necessity of you letting her. But more to the point, your daughter is very nearly of age to make all of her own decisions. It would be best if you leave to her discretion all of those choices around her body, especially if not illegal or dangerous. There is simply no good reason for you to insert yourself into her decision to have her ears pierced, either preventing her or insisting that she do it. If you hope to have a quality adult relationship with your daughter, demonstrate that you respect her independence and choices.By the way, and while I can’t vouch for these statistics prominent on the internet, but they suggest that most girls get their ears pierced before the age of 10.

Until a child turns 18 theyre the responsibility of their parents. Tattoos and piercings in most places require a person to be at least 18 years of age OR have consent from their parents. If the parents don't want to consent, they don't have to. The end.Piercings are quite often a permanent modification. Most people think if they take it out it will heal over like it was never there. Not so. I still have holes in my lips and ears despite not having worn any jewellery in them for over 8 years.Some parents want to protect their kids from permanent modifications that they may later regret. So understandable that they don't want their teen to stretch their earlobes when they're going through their punk phase, or whatever.There's lots of people around who wish their parents protected them from their crappy decisions in their teen years. Many of these about regrettable body modifications. I'm sure there's those who will scream they still love the tattoo they got when they were 16. But they're a vocal minority.Piercings might seem like a ‘nothing’ but they can cause a lot of problems. Not something you should take lightly. If you still want the damn thing at 18 noone can stop you and you can disfigure your body as much as you want.And if you don't care anymore at that point or it's not worth the money to you, your parents most definitely did you a favor ‍♀️
