PDF Editor FAQ
My husband was a veteran. I am now in need of help with my daily health and household chores. I am 76 years old and no longer drive. Are there any services available to me?
Surviving Spouse Benefits (veterans aid and attendance)There is help for you because your husband was a veteran.Call 800–827–1000.Listen for the prompts for who to talk too. There are also agencies like the Vietnam Veterans of America.Ask which agency that can of the VA that can help you. There is always a wait. You need help now so you might consider calling the country that you live in and they may help you sooner in the private arena.I drove one elderly lady to an agency and she got help immediately. You have decades of joy waiting for you. There's help for you right now.
What is in the tax cut bill presented today that no democrats will vote for it? Specifically, what part will not help middle class America?
Let's see:It guts spending on Medicaid and other health care issues. It eliminates the deduction for state and local taxes, in essence creating double taxation. It eliminates the estate tax. While this seems reasonable, it only effects people in the upper half percent of the population—but for them, it's huge.It continues to destroy the elements of the ACA.It reduces spending on veterans aid, housing for the poor…I'd be harder pressed to find anything in the plan that is worth voting for.
What is your frekish moment with someone, that you want to share?
I would like to share a bit about my husband. My husband who is regarded by many as a complete ass hole. It's OK because he likes that. I on the other hand know the real man behind his public immage. My involvent with him has been for the past 24 years, 23 of which as his wife. A successful man. Owned his own successful business for the past 12 years starting with 2 employees and now has 18 and still growing. He personally puts in 14 hour days 6 days a week. What makes him a public ass hole? He is not polite to most people he meets. He hates those that try to put an air of superiority around themselves. He never liked to mingle with people at parties or gatherings. They were never his crowd. His only crowd was his family. Myself and our children could associate with whomever we wanted to but never expect him to want to be included in our social lives. While he attended most sport and choir events our children participated in, he would avoid interactions with other parents basically referring to them as superficial brings. Needless to say, he had no personal friendships and he always liked it that way. He was routinely referred to as anti social or just a plain jerk. That never phased him and if I didn't know him like I do, I would have to agree. I don't, even a little. My husband is not the person others think he is. While he has been very financially successful, if someone seen our bank accounts they would say we are just like any other middle class individual struggling with getting ahead. Of course, our children are both currently enrolled in University studies with the first to graduate next year and the second in three years. Along with some scholarships, their education is already fully paid off. We have no debt. Notta, nothing. Seems nice for us don't you think? It is but what is nicer, is my husband never forgetting those less fortunate. You see, my husband has been an active supporter of those that have come on hard times or just haven't been able to find the opportunities available to them. He donates to many different projects that finds employment for the less fortunate. He has donated to various organizations that feed the homeless or those that can't afford a decent meal. He supports organizations that offer educational financial aid for those who can't afford it. He has no qualms about handing a street begger 5 dollars and some direction to finding some assistance. He feels the government is ignoring the real problems of the nation's poor but is normally openly upset the way veterans have been forgotten. He works hard to give financil support to many veterans aid groups. He gives assistance to schools to help pay off lunch fees that are overdue, 3 a year, always different schools because he thinks that the well to do will just not pay the bill thinking someone else will. So, he changes it around. He is presently paying for 2 individuals to attend college and 1 for trade school. Their agreement is that they have to maintain a B average to get his coverage or it is reduced but only a bit. Every donation he has ever made is made annonomusly or in a different name or on someone else's behalf. He doesn't believe in recognition. That would put him in the same group of people just building their image. Uncle Sam is the only one that knows and even they do not know of all the contributions he has made.As for his business doings. His first two employees were homeless individuals he met on the street and interviewed on the spot. He doesn't believe in minimum wage and offered them a liveable wage, first months rent, and groceries to start. Both are still with him today. Over the years he has hired more if the same as well as some relatives of his employees. Today those that just start get 18 dollars an hour along with any needs for that first month. What he demands in return is that they do their job as defined in their job descriptions. No more but never less. He is a firm believer that a paycheck is a reward for doing your job. Not all have stayed with him though but he has gone out if his way to aid them in some way be it a few added paydays, some rent payment, or just made sure they had enough food on hand for their children. This applies to anyone fired by him too. Only one time did I ever see him refuse assistance to a fired employee. He had a drug problem and it interferred with his employment and the other employees. My husband had to let him go but offered to pay for rehab and help with the family while in rehab. The individual refused so my husband had to part ways. All of his employees have been asked to not talk about their pay or benefits. They have seemed to go along with it. My husband knows he would be flooded with applicants and people would talk. He would rather just keep it all underwrap.I think he is the most kindest, generous man that no one knows about and for him wanting to keep it that way is the most admirable thing one could do. Yeah, he's an ass hole but proudly, he is my loving ass hole. The world needs more like him.
