This is Chrese Evans. She owns an antique shop in Portland, Oregon, and practices Buddhism. She is the daughter of Svetlana Alliluyeva, Stalin’s daughter.Joseph Stalin, with his daughter Svetlana Alliluyeva, in 1937[3]Stalin was, of course, the dictator of the Soviet Union from the 1920s until his death in 1953. Svetlana, his daughter, was born in 1926. Her mother, Nadya Alliluyeva, committed suicide when Svetlana was six years old, and she grew up privileged but emotionally distant from her father. Nevertheless, for much of her life, Stalin doted on her and was very protective of her. As Svetlana grew older, she began to learn of the untold cruelties of her father’s regime, and lived a troubled life under his shadow. The breaking point was when she began a relationship with a Jewish filmmaker, and Stalin had him sent to a gulag.While Svetlana lived in Moscow, she had two children, Iosef and Yekaterina. She later fell in love with an Indian man named Brajesh Singh in 1964, who was ill and died in 1966. After she obtained special permission to go to India to scatter his ashes, she sought refuge in the U.S. embassy in New Delhi and defected to the West. She escaped to New York and eventually became a U.S. citizen. In 1971, she gave birth to her daughter Olga, who goes by Chrese today.[4]A photo of Chrese and SvetlanaSvetlana passed away in 2011, filled with many regrets. Today, Chrese has stated that her mother faced a tremendous amount of guilt for her father’s crimes even after she defected, and felt sorrow for leaving her two previous children behind.
