PDF Editor FAQ

Does MIT offer mechatronics as a course?

No. MIT does not offer a specific program in Mechatronics. One does Not need a specific program in Mechatronics or any niche area as an undergraduate at MIT. Because MIT allows You to tailor your undergraduate experience towards Your interests.First look at the word: Mechatronics. Mech……. The first part of Mechanical. Then go here: MIT Department of Mechanical Engineering and when you scroll down you will find Course 2A the customizable Mechanical Engineer degree. Add in some EE and CS and Voila, you are a Mechatronics engineer after you put all of that together for your Senior Year Capstone project.Or you could do something similar in aeronautical and astronautical engineering. However, I wouldn’t suggest starting in EECS, as the first part of the word is Mech and you have to learn to control a Mechanism and you have to understand how that Mechanism works, is designed and how it is manufactured. All the best.

What MIT OpenCourseWare courses should I take in mechanical engineering?

I would start with the undergraduate core of MechE, which can be found here: Mechanical Engineering (Course 2)This includes a number of restricted electives. Alternately, there is a “Bachelor’s of Science in Engineering as Recommended by the Department of Mechanical Engineering” (Course 2A) here: Engineering as Recommended by the Department of Mechanical Engineering (Course 2-A) (Basically a more flexible version of MechE with more electives including units in major and elective subjects with engineering content). You do have to pick out a “concentration” (coherent set of subjects with a focus) for 2A — and here are the possible concentrations for Course 2A: Tracks (this does include a Biomechanics and biomedical devices track, linked to Biomechanics and Biomedical Devices)MIT has a separate Biological (not quite Biomedical) Engineering department and the core requirements are here: Biological Engineering (Course 20)(Then once you have all the appropriate course subjects & names, you can cross-reference OCW.)E.g.,Course 2OR Course 2A:And then:

What is the hardest major at MIT?

To start, as cliche as this may be: the course load at MIT can be as difficult as you want it to be.That said, primarily basing off the core curriculum (and this is based on my observation and discussions with my friends), Course 16 (Aero/Astro) and Course 8 (Physics, but not 8B[1]) are definitely contenders for the top. I would like to add one oft unmentioned major, Course 10 (Chemical Engineering). I've heard stories of the class average for a test being 30 (out of 100!) being normal and not unheard of.Other possible contenders:Course 2 (Mechanical Engineering, not 2A[2]): the high number of courses in the core curriculum - MechE is one of the least flexible Courses regarding what classes the students can take while still satisfying the major.Course 5 (Chemistry) & 7 (Biology): filled with competitive pre-meds.Course 4 (Architecture): this may be the most physically hardest Course (taxing to the body) because of the number of man-hours spent in studio.[1] Course 8 students and alums, particularly those who were not 8B, will be quick to point out the difference. As far as I know - and if someone who was actually Course 8 could please clarify - the main difference between 8 and 8B is that those in Course 8 have to take Junior Lab, two(?) lab courses taken junior year that are infamous for being quite grueling.[2] Like Course 8B, 2A is the lighter version of Course 2.
