According to my parents. The day I was brought home from the hospital after birth, my two-year old sister threw a yelling and screaming fit for the next three days.As I grew up, my sister would break my toys, put bugs and rocks in my food and steal anything valuable of mine that she could find. By error I was given my entire file with all three letters of recommendation which I read. Two former professors wrote in glowing terms that I didn’t deserve. My brother-in-law professor wrote in his recommendation that I was lazy, dishonest, always late and had a problem with alcohol. I was shocked. I called my mother who could only comment that my sister never ever got over me being born.Throughout the years I always tried to buy my sister presents, and offer my help and compliments whenever possible. None of it worked.Throughout the years my sister had done several nasty things including trying to convince my wife out of having a baby, discouraging scraping together a down payment to buy a house in Palo Alto, starting new businesses and virtually anything else that was positive.The final straw was when my sister first got cancer. In the Indian Navy the punishment to an officer (I don't remember for sailors) was First loss - Letter of Displeasure by the CinC, Second loss - Letter of Severe Displeasure and Third loss - Trial by Court Martial. A letter of Displeasure or severe displeasure meant you could not be promoted while it was on record viz. 1 and 2 years respectively.The ID cards of all officers and sailors were physically sighted every month, sailors' by the divisional officer and officers' by another officer nominated for the job, and a report to that effect was made to the Naval Provost Martial (the issuing and record authority). As XO of a carrier I received a letter from the NPM asking how I had issued a report when an officer's ID had been found in Kolkata and mailed to the NPM. “The Transfer Letter”It was an arranged marriage, they met once between the marriage and the engagement setup and agreed to marry. Both were very gentle in nature and both had jobs. They decided not to get into intimacy unless they felt love for each other. He once told her, “A man never cries but when he does, consider that there’s something serious, something that should be taken care of.” She realized, that “something serious” was none other than Love.) He continued, “I Love you sweetheart.” (This particular moment, when all of her doubts were cleared. She couldn’t imagine of this happening in a better way. This was it, this was the moment.) There was a moment of silence then a tear fell from her left eye, she hugged him tighter and whispered in his ears, “I Love you too sweetheart.”“Love those who want to love you, Love those who want to be loved.”
