As a rule, whatever you grow up on is assumed to be better. Now, as to why a lot of people outside of North America dislike American chocolate, that’s well-understood.TWO — Generalizing American chocolate is hilarious. It’s like calling American food bad because you ate at McDonald's or Burger King. Yes, I agree, those aren’t the best and I agree that the US cannot divorce itself from those things, but like with all things from bread to chocolate to burgers, where you get it matters a lot. Europeans tend to HYPER regulate niche food items according to the culture (German beer, French cheeses and wine, Swiss chocolate, etc.). In the US, the only thing regulated is basic quality of food, you can make anything you like and if it fits within certain parameters, you can call it “chocolate” or “Champagne” (sorry France!) or “cheese” (“processed cheese food product” yum!).In the US, there is AMAZING chocolate. You just won’t find lots of it at the checkout at 7-Eleven or Target or Walmart. There are a few brands that make European style chocolate: Ethel M (owned by Mars), Scharffenberger (owned by Hershey’s) can be found in limited quantities in a lot of stores (like Target). Of course, given globalization, you can find Lindor Truffles, Godiva, Milka (Mondelez) and Cadbury (Mondelez) about everywhere. Natively, you’ll find major and regional brands like: Ghirardelli, LA Burdick, Valerie Gordon, See’s, Fran’s, Vosges, Jacques Torres and my all-time favorite in Cleveland, Lilly Handmade.To the question.Many moons ago, in the “before times”, in the “long-long-ago” when giant reptiles roamed the Earth, an American fellow named Milton Hershey set out to create a mass-produced chocolate bar. He didn’t have the European formula — where conching and making chocolate bars was pioneered. Having visited Europe, he returned to the US and made a copy of what he saw. That formula lead to two things:During the milk condensing process (to make powdered milk), the dairy soured a bit. This lends to the taste you get in the chocolate having a slightly sour note that Europeans tend to loathe.During the conching process, different types of fats are added. European chocolates tend to be softer whereas American chocolates are firmer.But that’s a Hershey’s thing. Mars doesn’t make chocolate bars in the US (they don’t bother). For Mars, you’re just getting chocolate-ish coating on shit. You’re in it for the filling. Hershey’s does make a chocolate bar with Almonds that I like. Lastly, of course, Hershey’s has a European style chocolate bar called Symphony that is a valiant attempt by them to fill that market (and when I’m in the mood for it, the kind with toffee bits is good, but mostly I’ll just get a Lindt bar and be content).

According to veganism livejournal, Trident gum are vegan except the flavour : Trident Splash because it contains beef-based gelatin.That being said, Trident belongs to Cadbury which belongs to one of the 11 biggest companies in the world : Mondelez International.Which brands belong to Mondelèz International?They make billion each year and are producing products which deeply hurt the animal or the planet (palm oil, cow milk, etc.). So even if this subproduct is vegan, I would still avoid it because of the unethical stands the company is taking in a daily basis.Like, I would never go to KFC even if they came up with a vegan burger. They are hurting chicken too much
