Crusader Kings is a great example of a game that shows the lifestyles and realistic changes of the Middle Ages. There are many features within the game including council activities, war, marriage and murder that resemble key historical events which took place during the Middle Ages. There are however, some areas of the game that need improvement to be historically correct throughout the whole game.One of these issues is that the game only covers the late middle ages, not the start. This means that key formations of particular Kingdoms and Empires are left out of the games lore since the earliest start point is 769 which has the 2 French Kingdoms but no explanation as to how they were formed. There is however, explanation as to how the Holy Roman Empire formed but that's a different story. To summarise this, Crusader Kings could improve its historical evidence if it explained or made playable, the start of the Middle Ages.The next issue the game has which is not based on history is it’s warfare. If you are at war in CK2 you can send your army to attack another, if you defeat that army you can follow it all around the map to up your war score instead of sieging. This is not realistic at all since it does not matter how much you kill an army, you must capture the castle to control the land. The game tries to stop this by limiting battle war score to 75% however this is still too much for battles. If this percentage were to drop to about 60% then the games warfare would become more realistic. To conclude this, if Ck2 were to lessen the importance of battles then warfare would become more realistic.But all together, CK2 really does express historical and realistic features of the Middle Ages for a game which is being improved year by year. You never know, they may fix these issues and make the game very realistic.

Well in a way it is because you will end up knowing tons of historical borders and events both in eu4, ck2, hoi4, vic2. In CK2, for example, you will know who was king of who and in what kingdom, will know their vassals and territories also their techonlogies advances, very poorly but you will know. The same goes to EU4, HOI and VIC2. You will also understand international politics, very poorly, and how your actions will influence the world, how alliance and personal union works etc.They're quite educational if you stop at the start screen and don't play it. Because if you are playing it for the historical purpose I'm truly sorry mate but you will learn a lot of things wrong but if you like to love maps (like me) it is somewhat educational.Hope I helped, Cheers mate!

Crusader Kings 2 is centered on the characters, and the gameplay is mainly about them. You are a character, you can have husbands, wives, sons, daughters, lovers, rivals, friends… You need to manage carefully who holds the titles, you have to organize marriages, etc. You can declare wars to press your claims against other characters, you can plot them, you can seduce them…Europa Universalis IV is centered on the country. You have a ruler, and hopefully a consort and a heir, but they are not flashed out like in CK2. You need to manage the development of your provinces, fear the Ottomans, Austria and France, look at your balance, decide the course of your nation… for example you may decide to unlock the Offensive Ideas, which boost your army, or the Trade Ideas, which boost the (complicated) trade values.Victoria II is centered on… hm… population, industry and globalization. You need to decide the political party of your country and fulfill their wishes. Laissez faire? Look your capitalist decide the industries themselves. State Capitalism? Build something out of your own coffers. Watch the liberal ideas spread, the concept of monarchy fall, and the birth of democracy. Ugh.
