It's always best to go through an agency. Find the best and most reputable ones in your town. They can send models over for the casting based on what your needs are. Be specific to the agent about what you are looking for--BWH measurements, height, hair color, age range, type of look (classic, youthful, skater grunge, Boticelli, etc). No one wants to waste anyones time. Set a 1-2 hour time frame, no longer than 2 hours, unless you are super not busy and have tons of time to waste. Ask models to bring headshots/comp cards, so you can use these to reference your choices and make notes on them (fit of samples, professionalism, good features, bad features). Stay organized. Be sure to get all the proper measurements from the models at the casting, use a tape measure if necessary, ask shoe size, and state time and date the model is needed at the top of the sign in sheet so they know if they are available. (this is something the agent should clear with them before even sending them, but it's always a good idea to cover your bases). In Mississippi we use a card that is inserted into a voting machine where it has the ballot loaded on the card. You vote and then the card is given to a poll worker to reset with another ballot. At the end of the day the poll workers run a paper report of the votes from the voting machine then the memory card is taken from the voting machine and returned to the court house. They pull the information off of the memory cards for each voting machine to get the totals. The only time they use paper ballots is for absentee voting and if the voting machines go down.. At the beginning of the day a report is printed to show there have been no votes cast. Each voter is required to show their ID and sign in. This sign in sheet and number of votes will match if everything is done correctly. Also at the end of the day all absentee votes are opened and checked against the sign in sheet to make sure no one came in and voted after voting absentee. The county that I live in releases votes results in the paper on each voter precinct. I've also seen the votes results on Facebook. To answer your question every state has different voting systems and all don't scan ballots.

In most US jurisdictions there easiest way to do this would be to request a copy of the voter register, sign in sheet, checklist, or whatever your state uses to record who voted at your precinct. Look at the total votes from your precinct and make sure the numbers match. It's not uncommon for there to be one or two less total votes- sometimes voters leave the polling place with their ballot (either absent mindedly or because they want the souvenir more than an actual vote). Make sure to look at total votes cast, not the number of votes in any particular race, because there will always be people who don't vote in any particular race.Note, there is no way to verify how any individual voted (including yourself). This is important to preventing vote buying and bribery.
