I am renting a house in a nice neighborhood for almost a grand a month. It should have been an upgrade for my Gf and our two babies. Eventually she was convinced it was a bed bug issue. My landlord sent out his exterminator, as we have no bed bug addendum in our lease. He has been out twice in the past month, the second time we had completed a grueling list in preparation such as putting everything we own into clear plastic bags. The same day he did the first treatment(which we had to be gone w 2 babies for 8 hours) he scheduled a follow up and told us to keep everything bagged up. The follow up is 3 weeks away and this has become the biggest inconvenience imaginable with a 1 and 2 year old. Our landlord has said almost nothing about it. There’s a chance we’re gonna have to throw away a lot of furniture and clothing. (A minimum cost of 2 grand) as I’ve read about this issue, I’ve discovered for a little more money we could have used a heat treatment which is much quicker, safer, and doesn’t require us to throw anything away or even do the prep work. The exterminator confirmed that this was likely existing prior to us moving in and is probably sourced to the carpet. As frustration grows, what are my options(if any) in approaching my landlord about this?
