Not me but my sister in law. Ordered steak tartare. I know right, tartare sauce with steak is slightly unusual but it is nice with fish so maybe it is good with steak.Unfortunately that is not what steak tartare is. I’ve really enjoyed the discussion on here.For the record this happened to my (now) sister in law when she was a teenager. As most teenagers would be she was a bit shocked and didn’t enjoy the meal just because the idea of raw meat was gross to a young teen. They throw the dice of religion, politics and the common man doesn't know what is right or wrong. They run amok.Gay people in my country:Most of them are hiding. Heads down. They are clueless of their feelings and are scared to share because they may be mocked at.Many of them are those moving pendulums that are oscillating and not able to decide whether to be bisexual or gay. Just to stay safe because Indian parents give no choice as they demand a “Bahu” and grand children before they die.They are not understood and shamed by the society. All they want is a ear and acceptance. But they don't spread hate.They are considered as some sort of a sex seeking maniacs which is not true. Some people mistake this and message them with inappropriate pictures to dig them on social media.If they are out of the closet, all they fear is their parents, friends or the entire society may abandon them.Religions may or may not discuss on such relationships but they surely do discuss on rapes and it is a serious crime.Age old traditions and cutoms have blindfolded many people. In India “Sex” is still a taboo but what I wonder is that there are temples & paintings that show the ancient people in our country were way ahead of the present times in openly expressing their thoughts.The Article 377 may have shut their freedom. But light will always find a way to illuminate their life.

Forget the accents and the class systems, the gun laws and the different ways in which police are armed; the thing that really baffles Americans about the UK is the size of the place and the space (or lack of it) and the sense of distance.I worked for years in a company that did an enormous amount of business with the US and we had guests over with us constantly (and vice versa, of course). Conversations at dinner and in the pub frequently turned to differences and the sense of space was the one consistent source of bafflement. How can everything be so close together? And, at the same time, how can everything seem so far apart? Why do journeys that seem trivial in the US become serious undertakings in the UK?We once had a meeting in Edinburgh and one of the US contingent decided to drive, against all advice. He had rented a nice car and he wanted to see the scenery. It’s not much more than from Pittsburgh to Philadelphia. The rest of us, including his colleagues, flew. He arrived, much later than he expected, completely exhausted, and said it felt like he had driven from coast to coast. And he didn’t see much scenery because he stuck to the motorways.This led to an arcane calculation that reached the conclusion that it takes about four times as much effort to drive any distance in the UK as it does in the states. In parallel, the sense of personal space entitlement, the space in which you feel comfortable, is about four times as large for Yanks as it is for Brits, but the Brits don’t react if they feel uncomfortable, they just suffer politely. It was generally agreed that the discussion on space and distance was much more interesting and productive than the meeting itself and I have often wondered how our conclusions could be tested scientifically.
