Mel Blanc’s issue. (latimes.com)The following was told to me by a long-time Hanna-Barbera director. The director had occasion one day to work with Mel Blanc, one of the most renowned and prolific voice actors of his time, the man who, for decades, supplied the voices of the iconic Warner Bros. characters Porky Pig, Daffy Duck, Bugs Bunny, and Yosemite Sam (among numerous others). His story:“This was the seventies. Mel came in for a morning recording session and did a bunch of voices. I’d never met him before, and I was kind of awestruck, but the work went fast. We wrapped before lunch, and I escorted him out of the recording stage.“I said to him, ‘Mr. Blanc, I’ve loved your work for years, loved it. Man, all those great voices in the Warner Brothers cartoons, how did …’“His face got red and he cut me off. ‘Warner Brothers?!’ he snapped. ‘Don’t talk to me about Warner Brothers! Those cheap bastards! They screwed me out of more money than I can count! I hate those people!’“He went on like that for several minutes. I just stood there, nodding. I couldn’t think of anything else to say, so I thanked him for the morning session, shook his hand, and he walked off to his car.”Addendum: There’s a question in comments about Mel Blanc ever going off like this. Tesla unlike Amazon has tons to prove, and the markets are trusting that Elon’s brilliance and drive will lead Tesla to success. Without Musk, investors would freak out and search for a less risky bet.The Apple Case StudyTo Steve Jobs credit, he had groomed Tim Cook for years. Apple’s stock saw little impact when he passed away and the subsequent years since. The fact that Cook steered Apple for a considerable time period while Jobs was battling cancer gave Wall Street the reassurance that Apple would be in good hands despite losing Jobs. As well, Apple was on such a hot streak that their performance assured investors that the company was rock solid, at least for years to come.Others to considerLarry Page - Alphabet/Google. Losing Larry would be a huge hit, but Google had been run for years as a triumvirate. Larry, Eric Schmidt and Sergey. With their new corporate structure, even more top managerial talent has been added with Google CEO Sundar Pichai. Larry has done a great job in sharing leadership roles and the spotlight with brilliant senior executives.Howard Schultz - Starbucks (Founders matter)Shultz stepped down as CEO of Starbucks April 6, 2000 and returned January 8, 2008. It depends on what you mean by Cassia. There are at least two completely different areas: Cassia inside the GRA (this is the circular highway surrounding Rome, about 30km in diameter) and Cassia outside GRA.I do not live there although I was born in Rome and I know well those places.Inside the GRA, you must take into account traffic jams. During the day, traffic jams are frequent as Cassia is an important road that did not grow as others did (like Flaminia or Aurelia). Moreover it is full of shops and even if there is lateral parking, they are small and insufficient.Outside the GRA it is better from the traffic point of view at least because you have alternatives: there is the so called "Cassia Bis" which is actually a highway and is normally less congested. Then Cassia Bis goes directly to the GRA, so at least you can reach other parts of Rome using highways.I do not know if you are planning to relocate to Rome: if this is the case, consider that public transportation is probably one of the worst characteristics of my home town.
