PDF Editor FAQ
Do I need a comma before 'where' in the sentence 'John's temporary residence is a poorly lit and unsafely wired basement, where he spends the following seven days'?
The sentence is fine without a comma. You can make it sound a little more sophisticated by adding a comma after residence and moving is to just in front of where. Now you do need the second comma.'John's temporary residence, a poorly lit and unsafely wired basement, is where he spends the following seven days'To avoid confusion, an easy way to read this syntax tree is to go from top to bottom. Most English sentences are composed of an NP (noun phrase) in the subject position and a VP (verb phrase) in the predicate position, with some elements added on or moved around. This makes your English more interesting.John's temporary residence, a poorly lit and unsafely wired basement, is where he spends the following seven days is no exception. It is composed of NP-1 and VP-1. These two elements, in turn, are composed of sub-elements. NP-1 is made up of two more noun phrases, NP-2 and NP-3, while VP-1 is made of V, a plain verb, and SBAR, a wannabe sentence that is somewhat incomplete (details are not important). If you can recognize the overall phrase by phrase structure shown by this syntax tree, you will be able to rephrase it for simplicity or other purposes. For example, you could say:John's temporary residence is a poorly lit and unsafely wired basement (= NP-1 is NP-2)He spends the following seven days there (Where, the Wh-P, has been moved to the end of S-2 and become there)S = sentence; NP = Noun Phrase; N = Noun; VP = Verb Phrase; V =Verb; AdjP = Adjective Phrase; ADJ = Adjective; CC = Coordinating Conjunction; PRON = Pronoun; WhP = WH Phrase (what, which, where etc.)[Updated with a syntax tree for added clarity]
What is GATE level modelling in Verilog?
In the Hardware Description Language, the designer writes simple codes to form the concurrent hardware, many a times realizing on FPGA hardware. The complexity of the design can be very low to very high. There are different abstraction level available with verilog HDL.Behavioral levelDataflow levelGate level or Structural levelSwitch levelGate level modelling is considered simplest and lower level of abstraction.Figure 1 shows 2 to 1 multiplexer symbol and truth table. In Gate level modelling,Module is designed in terms of logic gates and interconnections between themIt is used for combinational circuits onlyImmediate value updation as the input changesIf two or more inputs are changing concurrently, they will perform their actions concurrentyLarge number of details this level of abstraction has got, but still it is closer to the actual physical implementation, this makes it easy for newcomer to corelate the code with the circuit designThis modelling uses basic gates often, thus they are made available already as primitives, to be usedThe following code is for 2 to 1 multiplexer using Gate level modelling in verilog HDL.module muxx21(Y, D0, D1, S); output Y; input D0, D1, S; wire T1, T2, Sbar; and (T1, D1, S); and (T2, D0, Sbar); not (Sbar, S); or (Y, T1, T2); endmodule To get the latest knowledge, material, class notes, research trends, topic discussions, tool reviews in the field of VLSI.Join the community VLSIChaps on various platforms. Which patient should I see first and why?
I'm going to assume that my floor is awesomely staffed so that I can pretty much hit everyone at once. While I'm going over my patient's OR consents and orders I'll ask my resource nurse to go and evaluate my patient in pain. I'll deploy my CNA to assist my bathroom needing patient. I'll poke my head in to my feeling sick patient and eyeball him, making sure he's not vomiting, evolving an MI etc. I'll make sure his call light is within reach, make a mental note of the time, and let him know I'll be back but to call if he's feeling sick in the meantime.I then grab my supplies and get my OR patient up to the bathroom while I finish the checklist and meds in the room. The OR circulator shows up, pleased as punch that I've made their job so easy, they high five me.I document my patient up to the OR, do a quick check with my resource and CNA and then go sit with my sick patient. Or, I might go sit with my sick patient while I document. That's probably more likely.Of course, that's not what happens in real life. In real life I would be understaffed and taking this on alone. In that case I'll go and get my bathroom patient up first, make she he's stable and go next door to my pain patient and ask her to rate her pain.Next, I'll get my bathroom patient back to bed and go and check on my not feeling well patient. He doesn't look great. Crap. I'll slap on his pulse ox and make sure he's satting ok. While this happens I'll log on and look at my OR patients orders. Double crap!! He needs like three IV push meds and a prep I didn't know about. My patient is satting in the low 90's, I put on his nasal cannula at 2 liters noticing my OR patient has 1 minute to be ready, I can hear the elevator doors open and a wheelchair rattle out.Mr. Notfeelingwell looks a tad better and he's at 97%. I hand him his call light and let him know I'm stepping out, but to call me...if he feels like he's about to die, I mean, feels worse.I meet the wrath of the OR nurse.I'm feeling a tad super human today so I kindly enlist their help to finish getting the patient ready. He gets them up to the bathroom while I book down the hall to get their pre-op meds. A call-light goes off as I pass Mrs. Myleghurts room."Where's my pain medicine?"I pull my OR meds, grab the prep and consents and book back to the room. I poke my head into Mr.Notfeelingwell's room, he responds, but his pulse ox is in the 80's.I literally throw everything at the circulator, tell him I have another patient who is circling the drain, gotta go.He asks for my full name to write me up. Fabulous.Back into my sick guy's room, he doesn't look great. My gut is telling me everything is wrong. I get his blood pressure and call out for help. The charge nurse shows up, but to ask me why I haven't medicated Mrs. Myleghurts, she's called again. I SBAR the crap out of this and ask for a RR team. After my patient codes and is transferred to the unit I'm left with a pissed off OR, a cranky pain patient, and a charge nurse (who had been MIA) who's asking why I didn't call for help sooner.I start banging my head against the wall...
