Well it depends. First how old are You? If You are still a minor and are high school(age 14–18) then You could get a student visa and try out for the wrestling teams at one of the schools with one. Despite being considered “small” by the public school counterparts, the wrestling at some of the name schools like Blair Academy or Wyoming Seminary have excellent programs and many graduates go onto University/Colleges at Division 1 NCAA programs. The Private prep schools have their own National tournament that attract a lot of attention from these coaches. So if Your goal is to wrestle at University in America that is Your best move. Tuition at these schools is generally NOT cheap. Some make exceptions for brilliant students with potential and/or exceptional athletes.If You are University age (18–24)then You should seek a student visa to study at a school that has a wrestling program. Most of these schools should have a club wrestling program in conjunction with the Athletic Program for scholarship athletes. I should note that here in the states the emphasis is on American Style “Folk-Style” wrestling which has a very different set of rules. The Wrestlers for these programs train October-February with the season culminating in Mid-March. Only after the championship of this Folkstyle wrestling do these wrestlers train in Olympic Styles. This is the same at the High School level. The University Championships for these Olympic Styles are generally held in June so the March-May would be the time You would want to come.Most importantly, You should ask yourself in complete honesty where Your skill level is and what is your goal? If You are a beginner and looking to learn basic moves coming to the U.S. just to learn may not be worth Your time. If You are a ranked International competitor still relatively Young (Early teens-mid- 20s) and You have the financial means to train with the University/College clubs and perhaps try out for the team then by all means do so.If You are older say over 30 and have little to no experience in wrestling then You should have other reasons for coming to America to train. As You well know except for the very top competitors there is very little money in our sport. Many clubs throughout the States have open practices for anyone to join. You need only pay the USA Wrestling membership and club fees and sign their injury waiver. Still though almost none of the clubs have a full time staff so You would have to join at a minimum 2 clubs in order to train daily. Most of these clubs operate early morning or in the evening and are part-time endeavors for up and coming coaches. Of Course Should You train 5 days a week for 2–3 hours and work out for another 2–3 That still leaves You A full day. 18–20 hours. What do you wish to gain from this experience? In particular, I believe several options for sending contestants either with or without the involvement of USACO were not explored.The hosts (Mohammad Ali Abam in particular) informed me yesterday that all contestants on the US IOI team did receive Iranian visas at least one week before the start of the contest.Emails titled “No IOI participation this year for USA” were sent to the USACO coaches as soon as the US appeal to attend the off-site contest in Kazan was denied in early February. This is despite the hosts’ claim of being able to circumvent the visa ban and provide visas for the US team (which was supported by what happened to the U.S. wrestling team at that point, and did eventually turn out to be the case). Therefore I believe the visa option was only investigated as a half-attempt.The chair of this year’s Host Scientific Committee (HSC), Mohammad Mahdian (who is a US citizen), as well as the chair of the IOI Scientific Committee (ISC), Jakub Łącki, both work at Google Research New York. I’ve never been conned by an auto salesperson. But I have gotten bad service at the point of sale. Consequently, Toyota USA gave me $500 a while back. I’ve also gotten slightly deficient service from a dealer, with Hyundai USA giving me $400 prior to Toyota’s largess. And I got such awful corporate customer service from Dodge Sprinter that, after wrestling with them for two years (and me contacting their biggest lender), their legal department contacted all 135 of their Sprinter dealers and reminded them of their contractual obligations.Actually, I’m a very laid back guy. But the auto business is just that bad that it presses my buttons. That said, I had not complained to Hyundai USA. They foolishly feared that I would file a complaint under California’s lemon law. I say foolishly because I don’t live in California and they were after me to sign a waiver.If I recall correctly, I did sign the waiver though my spouse is the legal owner of the car.
