Student lifeAccommodationFirstly, you need to decide whether you want to live in university managed accommodation, or with a private landlord. Choosing university managed accommodation can also give you a catered or self-catered option. Catered accommodation offers the benefits of your meals being cooked for you and a degree of certainty with meal costs. If you have an idea about what you prefer, the accommodation office at your university will be able to tell you what accommodation they have available - so that’s the place to start. If you are thinking of renting from a private landlord or if your chosen university can’t offer you anything in its own residential facility, the accommodation office should be able to provide you with a list of private properties and landlords in the area.Wherever you choose to live, you should make sure that you know your contractual rights and responsibilities. In most cases you will be asked to enter into a tenancy agreement, which you should read thoroughly before you sign.OrientationOrientation week is mandatory for international students so ensure that you arrive before it starts. This is the time where you will be introduced to the university and its services, as well as enroll in your classes. It is essential that you read your guidebook, which is provided by the college. The guide explains each part of the admission process.ActivitiesAlong with sport, colleges offer extra-curricular activities that provide students a wide range of experiences. Once you landHomesicknessHomesickness is a predictable problem faced by most students at one point or another. It may occur at the beginning or even well into your year. Homesickness will pass. Be patient. Give it at least two weeks. If you are feeling sad, explain what is happening to your friends. Do not hide in your room; if you do, the homesickness will only worsen. Find your counselor on staff with whom you can talk about homesickness or other problems.Homesickness might be made worse by frequent, long telephone calls home. Most homesick students feel more homesick after a call home than they did before they picked up the phone. Try to limit yourself to one call home every week. The sooner you integrate into the university experience, the sooner your homesickness will pass.Shopping in AustraliaLarge shopping malls and supermarkets like Wal-Mart, Target in the Australia are one-stop shops for all of your daily needs. Be vigilant to ensure that all of your shopping is properly billed and that you keep the bills with you at all times.Learning basic cookingCooking for yourself will save you money. Indian food is expensive in Australia. It will also satisfy your urge to eat ‘your food’ during moments of cultural shock. Indian spices are not commonly available in smaller cities, but there are often shops on campus where you can get ingredients used in most Indian food.TravelEach large city has and provides different methods of public transportation, such as buses, taxis or trains. You might wish to rely on a private car for transportation. Even with the rising cost of petrol, private cars are the most economical and convenient mode of transportation because you get a lot of flexibility and freedom with your car. You can travel wherever and whenever you want, and don't have to depend on the schedule of public transport. However, before you buy your own car, you will have to use public transportation or ask friends for rides.Stay on Student VisaWhen you enter Australia, you may remain there as long as you are enrolled in the school to complete your academic program. After the program ends you may apply for the temporary graduate visa through either the new post-study work stream or the graduate work stream provided you meet the specific eligibility requirements. The duration of the subclass 485 visa you are granted will depend on the qualification that you have used to qualify for the arrangements.9. Post studies optionsPlacementsIndian students are used to the concept of campus placements and on-campus recruitment for getting jobs. There is no concept of placements in Australia, like most other countries. Most Australian Universities have a cell called a Career Services Center, which helps you get jobs and help you prepare for interviews. The on-campus recruitment is always driven by student interest. Companies that recruit through the university do not offer a job directly. What they offer is an internship or co-op. Companies like to see your work for few months before they hire you full time.Work visaGraduates who have completed a Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree may be eligible to apply for a two year post-study work visa. Graduates who have completed a Master’s by research degree or a Doctorate may be eligible to apply for a three or four year post-study work visa respectively. Other graduates may be eligible to apply for an 18 month subclass 485 visa through the graduate work stream.

How to videos, ebooks, recipes, guides, industry definitions, process explanations, and infographics are just a few examples of possible value you can deliver to your audience to provide value.People like freebies.Gifts to potential clients break down barriers and relax defenses. Potential client that you have given a gift to or provided value for, is 80% more likely to trust you, than if they met you as you were pitching them.So take some time and develop your UVP, unique value proposition.. Don’t take too long, if you know your potential client, think about what drives them:What type of job do they have? (management, construction, office, executive...)Why do they go to work? (to provide for young children, to provide for an elderly parent, to live a flashy lifestyle, because they were told to)Where do they relax, or hang out? (local tavern, sports bar, church fellowship, facebook, linkedin, amazon)What are their interests? (dogs, cats, football, local team, their kids, celebrities)For me as a roofer, my ideal homeowner and client was usually a working professional, small business owner, or high level blue collar employee. They were motivated by status, accomplishment, and family. They went to work not only to provide, but to provide a better life than their parents were able to provide. They also have something to prove, they want to prove that they can do it. They relax on the golf course, at little league games, and at local sporting events, but only occasionally. You can find them on their Facebook feeds once in a while butmost of their time online is spent debating some work related topic online in several members-only Facebook groups. They have christian beliefs but don’t have a lot of time for church with all of the kids activities, but they will be in attendance when the season is over, around the holidays and at volunteer opportunities. After a large storm, like a hurricane, these people will come together in a group with a name like, Aftermath and Rebuilding Chambers County, Coming Together after Hurricane Michael in PCB and so on.Pro Tip: Start a local after the storm group on Facebook. Contribute by posting important contact info and storm recovery info. Make the theme one of sharing and approving contractors and resources. As the admin and owner if your input is helpful the leads will be available at your beckon call. How does this relate to optimizing a Google My Business listing and providing value to a potential client? Knowing your client and what they’re about will reveal to you common needs. When you know their common needs you are able to provide solutions to these needs, or add value, for your potential clients. For example: my potential clients as a roofing contractor needed things after a storm. They needed to know what to do next, so i would provide a free PDF that they could download describing the process of rebuilding after a storm.Use a lead magnet to get their attention. Something like “10 things you must know before you file an insurance claim”, or “How I get 100% more from the insurance company”.Anyway, let’s not veer off course. So we have all of this new information in our heads now, let’s put it to good use.Google, “Google My Business” and follow the steps to claim it. Google does a great job walking you through each step so I am not going to bore you with those details here.I will point out the steps to spend more time on, sucha s your bio or about me section. This section is going to act as the lifeblood of your digital personality and will set the tone moving forward. Think of it as your resume, you could even use the same format as a resume for this section. The other focus point of the Google my Business Listing is the photos section. This is where you want to display before and aft6er pictures, pictures of your guys during a build, pictures of your office staff or crews at lunch or recreation. This section is also for the images of the logos for companies that you are partners with. For me these included Owens Corning, GAF, SVG, ABC Supply, Sky Diamonds University, and others that I worked with and trusted in the industry. The most important photos are by far the before and after photos. These are the golden ticket when it comes to getting leads from optimizing your Google My Business listing. The two areas mentioned are the top priority in this task, but a complete profile is rewarded by Google over an incomplete profile. So the hours of operation, special offers, building pics or inside pics must not be overlooked.A great rule of thumb is this: If Google asks for it then give it to Google.“A great rule of thumb is this:If Google asks for it, give it to Google.”The last thing that you want to do is to post often. Remember to post value, make posts that contribute to the goal of your client and potential clients.Post things that are funny, or if you're the type, controversial.Do not only post requests for business.People will know that you offer roofing because you are always talking about roofing and storms, and posting before and after pictures of roofs that you’ve done, or how to videos, or storm preparation list. They know that you are a rooferA good rule of thumb here is the 80/20 rule.80% value and 20% offer. If you do things right, your offer will be ever present and you will contribute 100% value with referrals and new business looking for and asking for you specifically.Pro Tip: add value to the community and gain trust with major search engines like Google, by participating and speaking at local events. This could be little league sponsorship for local companies, or local questions and answer panels discussing the rebuild process after a storm.Take video and pictures so that your participation can be highlighted and so that you can tag other companies in them later for backlinks. I will not be going in depth into backlinks with this post but there are many great resources available if you would like to know more about the value of backlinks and how to get them legitimately.YouTube | Website BlogWe are going to talk about YouTube and your website and or your blog and the significant impact these have on your rankings on Google and other major search engines.Did you Know?Did you know that YouTube is the 2nd largest search engine, second only to Google? As a roofing contractor, I would blog about “10 steps to take after a hurricane”, or “How I get 100% more than the insurance company’s original offer”, these topics answer questions that my target audience really need answered.I also provide links to vital emergency resources like shelter information, water handout locations, emergency tarp information, Fema updates, local county and city updates. It takes just a few minutes to look these things up and add them to a blog. This type of information also provides a reason for readers to share and also to return to the website or blog.Pick your topicPick a topic that is http://relevant.to your target audience. This is not a difficult task and Google is always a great source to find relevant topics.Use the search box on Google or on Youtube to see what questions are currently needing to be answered and use the result as your blog post topic. For example: I just typed roofing in the search box on YouTube and I followed it with a space. The result came back and the most relevant question that a homeowner may be looking for the answer to is “roofing a shed”.This keyword phrase or search term appears twice on the list of the top 10 most searched questions currently on YouTube. See the image on the right.. I would write my post about “Roofing a shed with asphalt shingles”.This topic will include relevant keywords that I am targeting such as:RoofingRoofing with asphalt shinglesAsphalt shinglesAdd the target location city. neighborhood, area, county, state or country to the topic of the blog. In the example that I mentioned above it looks like this: “Roofing a shed with asphalt shingles in Baytown, Tx”Write the blog post with your chosen topicIt's time to start writing about the chosen topic.
