Although there have been very clear answers detailing the pathetic situation of the Anna University Exam Results, I believe and I will tell with great pride that no one is better qualified than ME to talk about Anna University and the Exam results.Reason being that I have suffered and been beaten like shit due to a very poorly organized and careless system. I pray that no one should ever reach such a situation.Care to read my experience that will indeed shed light on this system. (might be a bit long but will make a good read, trust me)Semester 1: After completing high school and joining a reputed college to pursue Engineering, you know that you have earned your spot and worked hard for it. Just like every other student, I was extremely passionate about pursuing Engineering, particularly Electronics fascinated me. But all this passion slowly faded by the end of the first semester itself when I got to know that the Evaluators of the answer sheets see the number of pages written instead of the actual content. Also, if you have a good handwriting, you are through to getting good grades.Semester 2 & 3: Shit HappensLast minute exam panic made me take my mobile phone (albeit switched off) accidentally into the examination hall and eventually ended up getting caught by the Checking Squad. I was shattered but continued writing the exam and met the Examination in-charge after the exam got over. I was told that "A case would be booked" as if I committed murder or theft. The procedure from there on should ideally go like this:1. Get caught- Case is booked.2. Results will be displayed as 'Withheld WH1' (For minor offenses).3. Receive an appointment letter from the Exam Cell to attend a council hearing in Anna University main campus and clear your name by stating clearly to the panel that you took the phone/electronic device by mistake.4. Pay a fine of ₹3000 and get your results slightly delayed compared to the others.But this is what happened to me:1. Get caught- Case is booked.2. Results displayed with my actual grades released for all my subjects except the one for which I was caught which was marked U (Arrear). Shock of my life #13. Asked my college exam cell about this but they seemed clueless about it and told me to wait.4. Did not receive an appointment letter from the Exam Cell to attend a council hearing but a few others who got caught along with me had already finished their hearing. Shock of my life #25. Asked my college exam cell about this but they seemed clueless about it and told me to wait.6. Received a letter to pay fine of ₹3000 without any meeting. Paid the money.7. Was advised by the Exam cell to apply for revaluation of that paper alone and I did. Add another ₹700.8. Hall ticket for 3rd semester was generated- with 18 subjects (9 from Sem 3 and 9 from Sem 2 inclusive of practicals). My entire second semester was converted into arrear. Had to pay the entire exam fees for 18 subjects. Shock of my life #39. Ran frantically and Asked my college exam cell about this but they seemed clueless about it and told me to wait.10. Went to Anna University Affiliated Colleges Exam Cell to enquire about this issue. Was literally saddened by the plight of the building, the equipment and the way in which answer sheets are handled. Trust me, it will look like an old newspaper mart- All the hardwork put into writing exams lies ultimately here. Shock of my life #411. Anna University Affiliated Colleges Exam Cell seemed clueless about it and told me to wait.12. Wait.13. Wait.117. Wait.1823456. Wait. That's all I did, with no idea about what was going on with my case. Everyone seemed clueless.1823457. Finally the day came when I decided to meet the Controller and ask for a solution. Solution came in 5 minutes- My mark sheet was misplaced, left alone, stranded somewhere and all that had to be done was print a copy and send it to my college. I got my 2nd sem results during my 3rd semester exams.End result- I lose money that was never reimbursed and became paranoid about the cell phone. I dont take my mobile to college during exams even today (Sem 7) and my friends mock me for it.Semester 4: Surprisingly smooth.Semester 5: Paid the exam fees before the deadline but my hall-ticket did not get generated.Repeat sequence of events stated previously.By this time, I had become an expert in Anna University Examination results related issues, trouble-shooting and how to solve them. I have faced enough, succumbed to the pressure and trauma, witnessed the sad state and what not. When you have 500+ colleges under your head, the least is to ensure that a well-managed system is in place to monitor records and databases and maintain a streamlined procedure for Evaluation and Announcing of Results.It has just become a concoction of imbalanced ingredients that will never go well and will require some radical changes to be put in a better position. Not only is this a rant from a suffered and soon-to-become Engineer, it is something that we need to be aware of and hope for some improvements in the future.As my friend once stated,Anna University- 'Progress through Knowledge'. Bullshit.Anna University-'Progress through Reevaluation'.

Thanks for the A2A.The basic procedure would be to have good grades, good projects and a solid recommendation or two from prior internships and then write a concise but comprehensive letter to a professor whose work you find interesting and matches your skill set and previous experience. Mention all your experiences and skills concisely in your cover letter itself, attach a PDF resume only if the professor demands it.I don't quite get why you wish to intern particularly at MIT, there are a handful of other universities that have equally amazing faculty across engineering. (I'm talking from the point of view of a naïve but interested student). If there is one particular faculty that you are deeply interested in working with (at MIT), the best idea would be to write that to him/her and hope they find you worthy of a summer project.In general, funding largely depends on the faculty you're applying to. You're usually funded for your living expenses there and if you're lucky you get reimbursed for flights/housing too - but then again, I know interns who didn't get any stipend at all.You could apply to other programs which might provide funding (SN Bose Scholarships etc.) according to your field of work.Be positive while applying - your college doesn't matter much, the work you've done there matters more. All the past interns I know at MIT had stellar undergraduate profiles, and usually did excellent work there and also came back with a PhD offer too sometimes.Best of luck!
