If I had known just how hard and emotionally draining it was going to be, there was no way in hell I was ever going to sign up for it. If you’d asked me how badly I wanted to be a doctor, I’d have told you that it seemed like a good idea because it was a pathway to a good job. I didn’t come to medicine with the expectation of finding a vocation. I thought I was smart, and that I could study anything, and that medicine made more sense than other fields.But after I started med school, I was so miserable that I consistently dreamt of escaping, either through quitting and making my way to another training program, or through making my own quietus, though with something other than a bare bodkin.And yet, by the time residency rolled around, and without being able to explain it, I was, against all expectations, the happiest intern I knew. I now attribute it to having such low expectations that I was bound to be pleasantly surprised. The rest of residency was still fairly stressful, but I had chosen one of the least stressful residencies, and things got much, much better over time. By the time of my last year, I was working about 40 hours a week.Now? I think that going to med school was the best thing I ever did. The income is even nicer than I expected. And I also genuinely enjoy my job. Making a meaningful difference in people’s lives really does count for something.So, med school was worth it for me. But getting to a happy place was very, very painful. If I had children, I would probably not recommend it.

We tend to check the bank balance, income, horoscope etc. prior to knowing them as a person and are later expected to ‘adjust’ with them!What is the point in having a pizza when the pizza toppings are abundant and fresh but the base and sauce are under-cooked/stale or rotten? Would you still be able to enjoy it to the fullest?Now, that’s one of the biggest flaws in arranged marriages!

You don’t have a reasonable or legitimate reason to prohibit a tenant from serving cake for their nieces and nephews—a party. Your only legitimate concern would be damage to the property (which shouldn’t depend on it being a party), and nuisance complaints.
