Not just parts of the media, but big personalities making compelling arguments against he EU and promising significant benefits and self determination in a post Brexit more prosperous, low immigration, world trading nation, with British laws for British people, repatriation of sovereignty, taking back control of Britain’s destiny, and no more sharing fish to be found in British coastal waters, no matter where the fish were spawned, swim into the British EEZ (exclusive economic zone) and you belong to the British people and significantly to British fishermen, and it was mooted that the UK government was signing trade deals as fast as Trump was cancelling deals and withdrawing the US from global influence and cooperation as someone who sees the entire planet, everyone and everything in it through the lens of profit and economic domination, as if there is nothing else of value in life, and no other purpose worth pursuing.UK will seek to prioritise trade not with a single trading block of 450 million Europeans, but now with at least 2.5 billion smaller individual nations all of who will want visa privileges. It is easy to see how flimsy and even unavailable and therefore unachievable so many of the boasts, promises and assurances will be, and the best one can predict is that Brexit will be same only different, but common sense strongly suggests that the status quo within the EU may not be achieved outside for some time, probably several decades, and in the lifetimes of most voting for Brexit will never show up. It is a fact that many who voted for Brexit have already died, more than the majority at least, and most who voted for Brexit are currently in dire straits, and may soon long for the erstwhile toxic membership of the EU, not to mention that 2.5 out of 4 nations voted to Remain, and there within the result is another important distinction, because Brexit, due to massive disparity in numbers with England representing more than 85% of the population of these islands and part of Ireland that the very small majority in Wales voting to Leave, even had it been the same majority to Remain instead, would not have overcome the English majority in favour of casting off from Europe.A recent survey of the English and separately of English MPs in what is referred to as the English Parliament with no English mandate as only the English have no separate parliament, but still always control things for the benefit of the English, distinguished that 85% of the English do not feel European or British first, they feel English first, and both the people and MPs felt that the breaking apart of the United Kingdom and the end of peace in Ireland would be a price worth paying for Brexit.Brexit has clearly created greater division and greater recriminations between people in UK, will certainly make life harder for an indefinite period of time. Brexit and the pandemic together will create hardship for most, and those voting Leave will not feel any obligation to work hard to deliver the promise of prosperity to Remain voters that were promises and assurances made to all, not merely to Leave voters, and unless politicians can produce a large number of rabbits for bowler hats, everyone, including leave voters will blame the ruling elites of all kind, colour and cloth.In terms of a model for a reality of Brexit, I would characterise it as not dissimilar from an iceberg. We can see 10% of consequences both advantages and not, but it is the unseen 90% that is troubling, the 90% that will become visible and known only over time.If I had to assign a particular realisation to Brexit it would be the lack of a complete education leading to sustaining false beliefs and expectations, a lack of knowledge and a lack of understanding, and most significantly and alarmingly on the part of politicians leaders who in effect were leading the nation to they knew not exactly where on the basis essentially of immediately increased prosperity and an order of magnitude decline in immigration, the opening up of trade agreements with more half the nations on the planet and the return of that rare and elusive element called sovereignty that carries little relevance for the everyday lives or everyday people.Our leaders who I would classify as much closer to dishonest and ignorant second rate administrators having-a-go at running a nation now have a duty to deliver what is probably nearly impossible, and the greater half of the nation as they like to think of themselves in terms of numbers, and other gross exaggeration, perhaps only 25% of all people in terms of numbers about who we can say with any real certainty that well meant and informatively enabled (or not) voted to Leave do not seem to feel but certainly do not acknowledge any responsibility towards those who they have taken out of the EU.Failed by education, knowledge and understanding on the part of almost everyone in these islands, we have created something called Brexit, which is an enigma to be solved, and not the fait accompli that a lot of British people imagine and believe.We should also take note that those so called leaders who brought us Brexit are now managing or mis-managing SARS CoV 2, and are currently wearing the crown of highest death toll per capita of any nation on the planet, not 4th place in an Olympic event, but with baton still to hand in 195th place, but given the tendency of British politicians to aspire to the greatest of deceits, perhaps they would classify UK as being in first place out of all the world, the leading nation, a proud and accomplished nation.To some extent Brexit is a cry to return to a past time of presumed but ill remembered and misunderstood greatness just as people long to go back to life before the pandemic, a past world that brought us the pandemic in the first place.If it is fair for Trump and some US Americans to call the pandemic the China virus, no matter how we feel about this China locked away behind a bamboo curtain and run by ruthless dictators, the incompetencies and other failings of those running the UK and US, there is no reason not to list the two nations as suffering from the Johnson-Trump virus, considering other nations have done far better.Brexit is an enigma to be solved, a work in progress and far from over. It is in effect an undiscovered country.
