Masters Thesis Literature Review: Fill & Download for Free

What you're describing ("just assemble the information that already exists in an understandable way") is called a literature review. It might be OK as an essay for a graduate-level course (I did one myself last year), but no self-respecting advisor and/or university would grant you even an master's degree for a literature review, let alone a PhD.A PhD thesis must introduce some new result. It may be small, for example, solving some very particular case of some equation in physics which nobody else has solved yet, but in science, every bit of new information added to the body of human knowledge, no matter how small, is important.

A2A Every academic institution (and sometimes every department) has its own template, but they (and other pieces of academic writing) are usually similar, written in similar scientific style and containing equivalent main parts (summary, introduction, literature review, methods, results, discussion, conclusions - sometimes some are called a bit differently, and sometimes Introduction and literature review and/or Results and discussion are just one subheading). I did my master's thesis research work at one institution (Weizmann Institute in Israel) but wrote and defended my thesis for another (University of Zagreb in Croatia). The only notable difference I noticed is that I had to write a more elaborate literature review than Weizmann students (theirs are just included in introduction).

You CANNOT write a masters thesis.Let me explain.The task is too big and complex to write a thesis (or dissertation). You need to start with the entire task and decompose it into executable chunks.I'll assume you've worked with your advisor to develop a research question so you know what direction you are going.Start with the prescribed chapter list for your document. You can do that in 10 minutes. Put it into the word processor program you are going to use.For example, today you can start a mind-map of your main topic. You can build branches to all the areas you know. You can identify authors who have written about these areas.Tomorrow, you can look for connections between the authors and learn about how they thought about their problems.The next day, you may need to continue finding the connections and reading more about their contributions. This part of your mind map can be turned into the outline of your literature review. Over then next week, fill in a topic sentence for each entry in your lit review outline. Next, expand each topic sentence into a paragraph. You can now put your literature review aside (but not away), you'll be adding to it later.Next, start figuring out what you are going to do and how you are going to measure it. What research methods can you use to help answer your research questions? Start writing your procedure. Spend a couple weeks on this, keep reading other peoples' research and revising your literature review and sharpening you research question(s) as you go.Now, it is time to put together your execution plan. How are you sampling? Where are you collecting data? If you need surveys, start a survey plan. This also will take a while. Make sure your data will answer your questions. It is easy to stray. Start executing your plan and collecting your data.Time for analyzing the data. Analyze your data according to the plan that you built in earlier steps.Write up your findings, recommendations, conclusions, your introduction, and then your abstract.Viola! You completed your masters thesis. But you didn't write a masters thesis, you did many little tasks that added up to a thesis (or dissertation). Congrats! Go rent the gown and get your diploma!
