Why are American and European citizens not required a visa to go anywhere whereas citizens from other countries are?

There are about 100 countries that require, one way or the other, a visa for an American Citizen to travel to. It might seem like we have a lot of freedom because we are closely allied with the EU and that compromises a lot of countries that a lot of American's travel to.There are some countries that do an ETA (an electronic visa process) such as Australia or Sri Lanka, and others that can get a visa upon arrival (Egypt can do this, but that will change in May). This is what I do for a living (when I am not writing or getting my novels ready for publishing). These are some of the more popular visas that American (and non-citizens in the US) are traveling to that need a visa:1) China - You can now get a 10 year visa and the timeframe and paperwork are pretty easy.2) India - A complete train-wreck - this system of obtaining a visa is so convoluted and frustrating (and I've been doing it for 7 years) that I can only conclude that the government of India is not interested in American Business or American tourist tourist dollars.India is easily one of the most popular visas and also the most paperwork, the least consistent timeframes, strictly jurisdictional, and BY FAR the most critical. I am telling you that if you forgot to put a zip code on the application for the visa (which in itself is pure frustration to complete) you will have to remake the application from scratch and reship it. 85% of people who apply for an India Visa at one time or another have to make their application more than once. If you are interested in traveling to India, I can give you one piece of advice - DONT. But if you REALLY want to then use a service like mine that helps you through it and be patient and give yourself a few weeks to a month to be safe and TAKE YOUR TIME! (okay rant over)3) Russia - believe it or not - SERIOUSLY popular. I do many Russian Visas every day. And while the application is long and a bit challenging, for a service like mine it is actually a very easy process. It is a bit slow, but we can rush them in about 2 days if you don't mind the cost.4) Brazil - did I say India is a trainwreck? I'm sorry I meant this cluster-f$#k of a country. Right now if you are in New York or any of its neighboring states, good luck getting a visa in only a month. Miami? San Fran? Even longer. Brazil is broken. Frankly, considering they are hosting the olympics next year, I am VERY surprised this is not more of a news story. Its a serious problem. Here is a simple list of some others (I've taken out some countries most people have never heard of):AfghanistanAlgeriaBoliviaAzerbaijanBahrainBelarusBeninBurkina FasoBurundiCambodiaCameroonCape VerdeChadCongo (Republic and Democratic Republic - stay away from there)Ivory Coast (Cote D'Ivoire)Djibouti (which, no offense, sound like a Bukaroo Banzai villain)GabonGambiaGhanaGuineaIndonesia, Thailand and the Philippines (if you are staying over 30 days)Iran, Iraq, and Saudi Arabia (great tourist destinations)JordanKazakstan (surprisingly popular)KenyaLebanonLiberiaLibyaMaliMozambiqueMyanmar (the country formally (and in some cases still) known as Burma)NepalNigeriaPakistanPeruQatar (pronounced "Kay-tar" - at least that is how we do it - most people have no idea how to pronounce it.)Sierra LeonSurinameSudanSyriaTajikistanTanzaniaTogoTurkmenistan (those wacky Turks)UgandaUzbekistanVietnam (easily in the top 10 most popular locations)ZambiaZimbabweI tell tell you that compared to other citizens coming to America, we have it easy. A visa to the US is incredibly difficult to obtain. Even the worse countries that we need a visa for (I would say India and Brazil) are not as Challenging as getting a visa to come here.Rule of thumb is if you need a visa, use a service. Some are easier countries to deal with than others. And some you can deal with at the Consulate or Embassy directly. But back to the topic - there are MANY counties Americans need a visa for. It's what gives me job security. A lot has to do with the Department of State and our relationships and treaties and agreements with other nations. Some of it is political, some of it is so the country can keep track of travelers, and mostly, its a way to make money.
