What was your worst experience in a foreign country?
Kazakhstan, worst transit experience ever.Back when I was 16, I had to go back to Tajikistan from Malaysia because my passport was expiring. As there are no direct flights from Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) to Dushanbe (Tajikistan) , I had to transit somewhere, which was Turkey. I had the time of my life in Turkey, it was seriously the best transit experience someone could ever ask for.The nightmare transit was for my flight back to Malaysia. I went through Almaty, Kazakhstan. Here are some of the problems I faced while being there :Transit hours. I was first told in Tajikistan that my transit would be 3 hours and I thought “Hmm well, that's actually quite good” . Guess what ? The transit was actually 30 hours. Yes, you read that right. 30 fucking hours. I had to stay in that cold airport for 30 hours with expensive shitty food and no winter clothes.Police. When I was trying to get into transit zone, a few police officers stopped me because they thought I was running away from home. They spoke no English and I knew very little Russian. Thankfully they found an immigration staff who spoke good English and I explained to her my problem and it was solved in no time. The statutory declaration that I had from my parents helped a lot, too.Baggage. After I accepted my fate and settled in the transit zone, the staff I mentioned above came looking for me. Apparently, my checked baggage was sent to Almaty instead of Kuala Lumpur (thanks to some of the morons working in Dushanbe International Airport). I asked to get out of the transit zone for a while to solve the problem but they didn't let me. The english-speaking staff also couldn't do anything as she had some other business to attend to. Just as I was about to give up, a Russian woman approached me to ask about my problem. She spoke in Tajik language (my mother tongue) and I almost cried right there. The baggage problem was solved when she talked to the airport staff in Russian and I swear that was the happiest day of my life back then.So yeah, that was my worst traveling experience. Pretty hard for a 16 year old but I smile when I think about it now :)
Is there corruption in Malaysia?
There are a few left from the previous administration but they are being hunted now. Now all MPs are required to declare their assets as well as the assets of their spouses, children aged 21 and below, and those of their related trust holders. They must declare their assets within a three-month period from the day the bill was approved (July 1), or have until Oct 1 to fill the declaration form to be submitted to the house of parliemant and Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief. Each declaration consists of three forms for personal asset declaration, additional asset declaration and disposal of assets, which will be made under the Statutory Declarations Act.The declaration includes monthly earnings and all property obtained domestically and abroad. All the MP's are now being monitored for any anomalies. Maybe it's not a full proof plan but it's a step in the right direction.
