There are so many negatives about city living that the only comment that is true is that the bigger the city the more mental and physical disease is found there. I have within the last week analyzed the reason for the exodus of unhappy people from Latin America coming in droves to the United States and I have theorized that a lot of the discontent due to crime, violence, air pollution and other factors can be blamed on the increase in recent years to the Latin Americans increasing their living in their cities to 80% of their population.This is a prophecy of what might happen world wide if the urbanization continues. City negatives include the cost of living which may increase the crime, violence, mental and physical ill health; the overwhelming numbers of people which may cause the people to withdraw unto themselves like being surrounded by an ocean but with out drinkable water, being surrounded by hundreds of thousands, millions of people but without knowing or speaking to any of them, all strangers; the nightmare traffic which turns drivers into evil people who will shoot and kill each other because of a perceived lane infringement; Air Pollution which destroys children's health for their whole lives; more crime always- being a victim more likely- higher homicide rates; City peoples brains change in response to the increase in stress, worse stress the more the brain becomes dysfunctional and abnormal; the never-ending environmental stressors; Urbanites get really stressed, they fight or flight with overactive response with even a minimal amount of stress. They are nobodies friend. Their ability to cope becomes weakened because of continual stress.Some urbanites are actually insane and nasty people. They learn to be crafty, cunning, liars with strong psychopathic tendencies. City people suffer 21% higher rate more from anxiety disorders and 39% higher rate from mood disorders. Children and adults born and raised in cities are 100% more likely to develop schizophrenia, they have twice the schizophrenia rate. Particularly dangerous about these people is that some of them turn into Paranoid Schizophrenics which is a very dangerous insanity that results in some of these people becoming insane, psychotic and going on a mass murder rampage. The mass murder rampages can be linked to increased urbanization in the world. These people completely lose their identity, their in- tegrity, their humanity, and get ahold of weapons and try to kill as many people as they can.The 21st century will be a disaster if the rapid urbanization that is happening all over the world is not transformed into a new population plan that doesn't seem to have been invented yet. There is still plenty of livable land in the world, but people need to be spread out more and not cramped like a million sardines into the can called a city. Now people feel they are perpetually overcrowded and their environment is less controllable by the individual. They gradually become shells of what they once were. Their horizons become limited. Their goals become shrunk. Their minds become rigid and perfunctory. They never see a sunrise not only because they do not get up that early, but also because there are tall buildings in the way. Where are the trails through the forests. Everything is sidewalks, roads, traffic signs, buildings, bridges and in the worst cities, bad air, not fit to breathe, plus a million people as nutty as you are. Nobody has a chance. Everybody's crazy, drugged up, high on excessive sweets, addicted to tobacco; in many of these cities just breathing the air for 24 hours is as bad as smoking a pack of cigarettes. If cigarettes and tobacco are gradually being made illegal why aren't cities gradually being made illegal?City people have increased anxiety and stress because the sheer reality of being constantly surrounded by people leads to lack of sleep, chronic fatigue, weakened immune system, becoming less healthy, and also affects circadian rythyms. Even Black Birds in cities have 40 more minutes of activity because their circadian rythyms are detrimentally affected. The disrupted circadian rythyms of night shift women results in double the breast cancer rate. It can truly be said that the increased urbanization of the world starting in the last half of the 20th century has grown into a cancer on Humanity.Even for centuries before that the urban realities were terrifying, disgusting, and filthy. Today the small micro-apartments that people have to rent for their lower cost have a very negative health impact. The claustrophobic atmosphere of the city is multiplied by the urban victims who are forced to rent these micro-apartments that makes the poor people imagine they are living in a prison inside a small cramped cell. City air pollution causes heart disease and strokes. Residential heating and cooking emissions cause and increase air pollution.The world will increasingly face a crisis during the 21st century for multiple reasons. Among the most serious and negative is the rush of people to live in cities. The world right now has 3,930 cities over 100,000 population. The United States has 307 cities over 100,000 population. It has been noted that once a population center starts growing over 100,000 in population some of the negative factors begin to be noticeable. Once the population has grown to over 300,000 the negative factors begin to seem to be in full evidence.Of course all cities are different. Some cities over 300,000 population seem to be much nicer places to live than other what can be termed major cities. Some major cities avoid crime, slums, pollution and other negative factors both physical and mental. Some smaller cities over 100,000 population still seem to offer small town friendliness and neighborly interaction and have public facilities that are needed by so many people. It has been noted that on average it is best to live at least 2 counties away from a major city over 300,000 in population and at least 1 county away from a smaller city that is over 100,000 in population.As the world population continues to grow and the United States population continues to grow especially in some fast growing states these calmer, less congested places are becoming less numerous. To keep positive mental and physical habits, positive decision making, positive outlooks, and to defeat any possible negative self-indulgences from forming it may be necessary for people to move if their city which used to be below 25,000 people has grown within a few decades to over 100,000 people. Their place of habitation is really not the same place anymore. It has the same name. It is in the same geography, but it is not the same. It has actually, in many cases grown into an alien place, while the place 50 miles up the coast or towards the forest is actually the new place equivalent of what their city was 30, 40, or 50 years ago. The positive choice is to move to the next county out where the automobile insurance is much lower, the rents are much lower, people are still day-to-day friendly and not hostile aliens, the air is still clean, the houses and real estate cheaper, the schools not overcrowded.The college situation is especially critical in this regard. Many of the top Universities in the country, when they were founded, were in the country. Now they havn't moved, but they are surrounded by a slummy city of over 300,000 population and some of the areas that they teach on even a PHD level that teach subjects that propel the students to solve the problems, these conditions are found in extreme circumstances across the street from the University. The PHDs can be analyzed as futile exercises in solving problems that are found right across the street outside the University, and where do these PHDs go? They go a thousand miles away to solve the problems somewhere else they were taught to solve. The rising population and the negative factors of cities are making the receiving of PHDs an increasing exercise in futility. The challenge of the increasing urbanization of the world is unprecedented in human history and archeology. As a potentially Space-Faring civilization we have to solve our problems on this planet as we simultaneously reach out with our telescopes and our flying saucers to other worlds, not to escape the unsolvable mess at home, but to spread our native success story.

If you live within the U.S. a lot of laws affecting the environment have been changed in such a manner that where before there were protections of rivers, streams and other places people used to fish and bathe in now, under Trump’s Republican Party, those laws allow for higher degrees of toxic dumping from all manner of industrial sources corrupting land, endangering any foods grown on the land, polluting the air with many more toxins which humans, all humans, need to live, such that very many are rapidly becoming themselves toxic even as they die. Several health crises have already developed as a result, such as increasing rates of illness of almost eradicated, or previously unknown diseases within the U.S. have not only come back, they’re spreading. Measles, Dengue Fever, Ebola, and others. In brief, more people are becoming ill as air, land and water become more toxic.Reviewing my comments above, many months later, has inspired me to add that the challenge to human progress is not merely Trump’s Republican Party but how people actually think. In other words, their choices have constricted ours to a point where the options we face for better health and longer life are much more limited. What the Trump Republicans, irregardless of whether they see it as so, fail to realize is that their lives are also impacted negatively in no small manner because there are larger consequences of these decisions which make everything worse for living beings everywhere, including humans. A philosophical argument can be made that we have always, as humanity, known very much less than the living environment we have inhabited. We may be the only species though willing to be at war with the environment we need to live within. Everyone should realize that there does appear evidence of a very strong response which will result in lowering all our numbers. The issue is not who will win or lose this conflict; the issue is why we seem to be choosing not to learn or adapt so that as consequences increase human survival is optimized versus minimized based upon our shared primitive views of economy and imagined profit.What follows isn’t an exhaustive cogitation or listing of problems; certainly there are some ideas each person can review more carefully which explore recent Republican choices but there are also increasingly difficult and compounding environmental crises affecting us all which should be explored seriously. The following list is merely suggestive. Of course, communities of all kinds do better when unified in action but this may become increasingly made more difficult because of the COVID-19 pandemic and the choices made to decrease safety measures and deregulate what sanitary regulations previously existed protecting the food, air and water supplies in communities throughout the Hemisphere. Both Hemispheres.Reminder: Although some references are old the background information they provide remains valid, obvious things like human beings need oxygen to breathe. There are however, many other intricate relationships with the environment which humans rely upon which are not obvious. The issue is no longer money instead the challenge is whether we have the political and societal determination to envision that our children have the right to survive and enjoy a more pristine and healthier environment we do have the potential to leave behind for them; this is what is central to human survival itself.The wealthy have never been in a position to be completely self-reliant, although a few may believe so, but the truth is we all live in one environment - the earth. The wealthy may wish to escape to another world but as they have learned nothing about living here it is more than likely they will repeat their abuses there and similarly destroy that other planet’s environment as carelessly as they have wrecked life on earth. If you are wondering whether you may have heard this somewhere, it was made crystal clear in the movie Avatar by James Cameron.It is silly to speak of space exploration when you can’t apply a cooperative effort to live on earth in a sane and sustainable manner meeting the needs of all the life who share our environment. We haven’t achieved cooperative balance with all the lives here, how can we learn to know what that balance is elsewhere? Anyway the scope of these questions are more expansive than what our diverse human societies are used to considering; it may be time for all of us to learn such that all our societies come closer together, not farther apart. Again, the pressure to survive can make children mature pretty quickly, if not exactly innocently or happily. We can clean up governments and get businesses and religions to face the facts while also becoming more transparent regarding what we do in relationship with one another and the earth.
