Forcing them, on the other hand, or any pressure, is not wise at all.Your question, unfortunately doesn't go far enough. What about those “close” to you, such as a Big Brothers of America big brother.In the late 1960’s I was involved with that organization. I was paralyzed. I couldn’t move.I want him dead. If he was alive, and I ran into him, I would immediately kill him. Anywhere, any time.So is it wrong to force?FUCKING YES!!!! You can only apply for severe economic hardship when you're studying and maintaining a full course of study, and you may do so over the summer so long as you're registered full time next semester.So OPT does not fit in the “full time course registration” requirement and it doesn't make sense to apply for severe economic hardship since you should have your EAD card from having an approved Form I-765 (Application for Employment Authorization Document). So unfortunately no you cannot apply for severe economic hardship as an OPT student.

You will need an I-20 extension (do it immediately) before May 31st to continue your “summer school" on June 14. If the summer school is in the same institution that issued you the I-20 form, then yes, you need to an extension ASAP (with the reason being that you need those few summer courses to graduate). Make sure to seek expedited approval from your academic advisor and DSO, and make sure to submit proof of funding to cover for the extended period of time.
