I am planning to buy my first DSLR. I am confused between Nikon D5200 and Canon 700D. Which one to buy?

Can vs Nik on? Which one to buy? This question has baffled almost all and there is no clear answer. Why? They are the top two camera manufacturers in the world and they have each comparable (not identical) offerings. So you will always find that one brand has something extra than the other and buyers are confused. Please note that customers have switched from Nikon to Canon and again back to Nikon depending on what was the best feature offered. Nikon was the dominating company during film era and when digital SLRs came in, Canon introduced its first digital full frame 1DS in 2003 whereas Nikon introduced them in 2007 with D3 and next year with D700. That gap of 4 years sent most consumers flocking to Canon and Nikon lost its pre-eminent position. Since introducing its full frame cameras Nikon has strived to offer better image quality in all its cameras. With the introduction of D800 in 2012 with a 36 MP sensor the customers flocked to Nikon in droves as Canon had no camera to match the 36 MP sensor. Nikon’s image quality remains better than Canon’s to this day. Canon released the 5Ds with a 50 MP sensor recently and is trying to regain market share. One thing we have to remember is that investment in lenses costs more than investment in cameras and so it is not easy to switch brands as the entire lenses of one brand cannot be used with the other brand. It is probably the main reason that Canon has more following than Nikon. The other reason is that Canon 7D Mark II had no rival until recently. It was the ultimate camera for sports and wild life. Nikon introduced D500 in 2015 which is giving the 7D mk II a run for the money but it is probably too late.Generally I have found the following features of one vs the other.Canon cameras have better video facilities, are more user friendly, have a jog dial which can be turned to review images, their LCD displays the light meter while Nikon doesn’t, it may also display the changing exposure in the image and the histogram etc., have flicker reduction capability, and such user friendly features. Canon’s customer service is reputed to be top notch.Nikon cameras have better dynamic range which produce better quality images right out of the camera, generally less expensive than Canon, have all the functions which Canon has but you have to go through the menus, have better resolution sensors in terms of mega pixels, have user guides in their entry level cameras, has compatibility with legacy lenses and has maintained the same F-mount throughout from 1970s till today. Nikon’s customer service is also excellent but a tad behind Canon. Nikon offers its image viewing and editing software free now (View NX-i and Capture NX-D).You please look at the different features of each cameras you are considering and decide which features are important to you and then buy the camera you want.Shubham Jain has given a link which compares the two cameras and the have concluded that Nikon D5200 is better than Canon 700D. Canon 700D body alone costs Rs. 38,995/- (Canon website) and Nikon D5200 body costs Rs. 28,450/- (Nikon website). At the end, do you think that the features of Canon are worth the extra money? Both cameras can take decent pictures. That will decide it for you. Please look at lenses beyond the kit lens and then compare the total cost. Please look at this video before you decide:
