I never had the privilege to have a joint drill with US forces. I’ve seen one or two just passing by and heard some 2nd hand stories.My basic understanding of the differences is below:US forces:Have a very solid and well established structure, equipment and manuals. You won’t find improvised things before the maneuver or non standard units.As any professional army with clear official ‘respect’ and discipline - from saluting to calling the COs correctly.Everything (almost) is in the manuals. I maybe exaggerating but the amount of possible scenarios is huge and it reduces the decision making for some commanders.High end gear and its usage. We sometimes joke about IDF using the “leftovers” from joint maneuvers as best gear available, “acquired” directly from the US army.IDF:Despite being a well structured organization some level of mess (balagan - בלגן) and improvisation is always present. It is probably related to having very young commanders - aged 19–20 for platoon level - and limited gear. You always find some improvised stuff in some places as a local initiative.Very unofficial and ‘relaxed’. First name approach works, up to the Chief of Staff, and if there are reservists in the drill you might see very unorthodox things. For example: my current regiment commander (colonel) was a young platoon leader in my company 17 years ago. We both enjoy funny stories about both of us from that period. Another example: during one of my deployments we had a visit from the Northern Command General and the Chief of Staff. During the visit we found out that one of officers in our battalion was the General’s sergeant when the General was only a recruit, sending him to wash dishes or do pushups as a young soldier. If this was not enough, the Chief of Staff was married to a sister of one of the officers - and after a while a typical Israeli family conversation took place there.Nothing is in the manuals and in most cases - there are no manuals or we forgot to bring the manuals. This demands for any level of command in IDF to have very good decision making skills.The amount of coffee during any part of the drill and the ability to prepare it any conditions. The dedicated coffee packs (made by the soldiers - IDF does not have it as standard equipment) are checked before the drill as if it was one of the weapons of every platoon.

Post conviction, a mere majority of the Senate could saddle him with this political albatross.Somewhat related to the above, Trump could lose his ability to line his pockets through PAC fundraising. Any level of control Trump might have over a political, party, movement, or committee would disappear if the Senate takes away his eligibility for public office, including holding a fiduciary trust position.The honorific title of “President”. One of the greatest niceties in the political arena is that once you’ve held elective or appointive office, you retain the use of the titular address forever (e.g. VP Quayle, Secretary Clinton, VP Cheney, Governor Rendell).And likely, a presidential library* (Nixon saw both his office and library come under attack). For Trump, this is bad because he will have a hard time getting funded by other means while banned from social media.*With the exception of Obama, NARA (National Archives and Records Administration) manages presidential libraries.

It all depends upon perspective…. If a colonel finds himself in a conference room with a bevy of generals—no (he may be the “coffee boy”), but in the “field,” viz., out in the various operating units, such as battalions, brigades, etc.—then yes.At the Pentagon, a colonel is just another senior field grade officer among a “cast” of hundreds, but in the “field” a colonel (in the U.S. Army) is the commanding officer of a 4,500-man Brigade Combat Team and the chief of staff of the general staff in a combat division headquarters (that also has one major general and two brigadier generals). In the U.S. uniformed services grade system there are a total of 24 grades of rank (nine enlisted, five warrant officer, and ten officer), with colonel as the sixth highest (O-6) in the officer grades, or number “20,” in the hierarchy, overall.So, yes, in general, “colonel” is a “high” rank, but it is all relative, especially when one is around a veritable “galaxy of stars” whenever several general officers are in one place.Col.
