They can dance on a dime, turn within a few lengths and act in ways not even the F-35 can match.The actual combat use of those maneuvers is in no dispute: the low speed maneuvers are useless in combat. Not have very limited use, they’re outright useless. To a fighter pilot, speed is life. Tight turns can’t help you evade an opponent, the speed loss will more than offset any minor gain in orientation. Thrust vectoring had a minor role to play for a few years in point-blank combat, it still allows the plane to orient itself to a firing position more rapidly, but then off-bore missiles (that can carry out the maneuver themselves) came to fore so that went down the drain.In all other aspects, the F-35 is superior. Stealth is the first thing anyone will wonder, and Su-57 is not a proper stealth plane. It has some low observable features and it can carry some weapons internally, but it’s a far cry from F-22/35. The Su-57 has a radar that is 20 years behind the radar and other sensors on F-35, there is no talk of sensor fusion on Su-57 (a major advantage of F-22/35), its internal bays can’t even hold a long-range air to air missile. One that will fit is supposedly in development, but that status hasn’t changed in nearly a decade. F-35 can fit four AIM-120s or two AIM-120s and two Meteros (ramjet, 300 km range) in the internal bays.Outside of airshows, the F-35 wins every time. Not in the repair business but as a neighbour and friend I have repaired and botched cars to enable their car to run or at least get them home.Most people today have no idea what their vehicle is doing or how to look for the problem.Take my daughter who thought something was seriously wrong when her displays, screen etc went blank. £57 to book it in and a day wasted to ‘repair’.Problem was a single fuse.It was NOT COVERED BY HYUNDAIS WARRANTY !!!The useless garage then sent her away and said the fuse had blown because the battery terminal had cracked and was loose. Apparently the battery terminal is classed as a fixing and not covered by warranty.Under this premise then if the nut on a wheel falls off it is not covered because it is a fixing.This was one particular Hyundai dealership.My Hyundai dealership would have stuck a fuse in for free not sent a woman with a 2 week old baby back onto the road with the root cause unfixed.How did I fix it. Rammed a self tapping screw in to take up the slack on the terminal and there it sits today.I used to fix a lot of neighbours cars. In the main I was never paid or even bought a bottle or some cigarettes.I stopped doing things after I spent a day fixing a neighbours Saab brakes.As I finished he said ‘’ We are off to a concert tonight and the tickets are a bargain at £65 eack’’Yep I had saved him more than that by doing the repair and had he gone to a mainstream garage it would have cost double his concert tickets.
