PDF Editor FAQ

As a police officer, what happened that made you facepalm?

You mean like the time I watched a Corvette get stolen? It was near the end of my shift when I saw the Corvette leave the stop sign and cross the highway, turning on its lights as it did. I made a quick U turn and killed my lights to wait for it to come to the stop sign a block in front of me. Sure thing, it rolled right through the stop sign without stopping. Two traffic violations in 30 seconds. I began to follow it. I should tell you that the original no headlights violation was on a road that ran between a Dunkin Donuts (best coffee ever!) and a car dealership. I followed the Corvette for awhile calculating how late I’d be for shift change should I stop and cite the driver. I eventually decided that the one last tag for the night wasn’t worth my sergeant reminding me (again) that the general public would still be waiting there for me tomorrow. I turned back around and headed to the station. Just as I pulled into the drive the stolen vehicle report came over the radio. The dealership security had discovered it almost immediately. FACEPALM!

What should I do when my neighbors put a “tenants only, all other vehicles will be towed” sign in front of their house on a public street?

Well…I’m a trouble maker…I mean a real trouble maker…so if you’re like me, here’s what I’d do.First look up the county laws to see if putting up a sign like that on public property is illegal. Chances are it is because counties don’t want crap all over the place. Then see if where they put up the sign is on public property. The sidewalk and the grassy part between the sidewalk and the street is normally public propertyIf their sign is on public property, call the county and ask them why they put up that sign in your neighborhood. They’ll send someone over to look at it and figure out where it came from. If your neighbors are clueless, they’ll go outside and tell the county worker the sign belongs to them.Counties have $50 fines and up for illegally putting up signs on public property like flyers on light poles, ads or garage sale signs on street medians. A few counties will let you put up a sign in certain places on public property for 24 or 48 hours. Others flat out won’t.So back to your neighbors…they could be lucky enough to end up with a fine for each sign they put up.Then there’s the second option…make sure to do this only if you don’t own your house.Park where the sign is and hope a tow truck company tows the car away. If the car is gone, call the cops and report the car stolen, and fill out a report.Go to the neighbor and ask where the car is and get the tow company’s info. Call the cops and let them know the tow company stole your car. Have it all on the police report.Sue the tow company for towing your car that’s parked on a public street.Laugh at your neighbor if they own their house because the stolen vehicle report gets added to the neighborhood’s statistics and it helps lower the neighborhood’s home values, and if there’s enough “stolen vehicles” reported, car insurance companies will start raising the insurance rates for people living in that zip code.

If a stolen vehicle report was filed by a police department but the Highway Patrol recovers it, who of the two would I ask for a copy of the report?

The stolen vehicle report, describing the circumstances of the theft, will be held by the PD. The highway patrol will file a recovery report, which will detail the circumstances of the recovery. The latter might contain any forensics results, if any forensic evidence was collected.

Their free plan is one of the best models I have seen in any program. I work for a school where we send out rental agreements for our sports facilities. I don't need to pay a monthly fee for the few times I need an agreement signed but being able to have access to an esign program makes it very reasonable and easy to use.
