Emergency Contact Form: Fill & Download for Free

The same thing you do when you find anything else that isn't yours: get it back to the rightful owner. In this case I would charge it, then try to see if the user has filled out the emergency contact form which can be accessed from the lock screen. On the lock screen tap Emergency, then Medical ID. If they filled it out it will have their name and emergency contact. If that's not there, you could just hold onto the phone for a bit and hope they use Find my iPhone to locate it. If that fails, take it to the carrier or Apple and they might be able to identify the owner. If none of the above work, take it to the police.Fortunately, for less ethical people who would think “Free iPhone; I'll keep it!” the iPhone is a useless brick without the passcode.Edit: Here are the steps to access the Medical ID.At the bottom left there is a button that says Emergency. This will let you call 911 without unlocking the phone. With Slide to Unlock being gone, you can access by pressing the home button without using the Touch ID finger.At the bottom left of that screen is the Medical ID button. That will take you to the Emergency contact card.It looks like this, without the options on the bottom and the ability to edit. My mother operated a daycare center for many years and I think her policies and procedures were pretty typical of most daycare centers.Before a parent brings their child to the center, there is usually an enrollment process, during which the parent fills out paperwork, shows proof of vaccinations, etc. One of the pieces of information the parent must provide is an emergency contact person’s information. This person isn’t the parent; it’s someone the parent has designated to take charge of, and make decisions for, the child if the parent is not available.My mother would wait for one hour after the parent was scheduled to pick up their child and would, then, attempt to contact the parent. If she was unable to reach the parent, she would contact the emergency contact person and ask them to pick up the child. When they arrived to get the child, my mother would ask to see identification and then have them fill out a short form stating that they had taken the child.I’ve seen some answers, here, that say the police or child protection services should be called immediately. I think that’s unnecessary and could place the child and parents in an awful situation that, perhaps, isn’t warranted. Some situations are beyond a parent’s control and it’s unreasonable to subject them to having the custody of their children brought into question.

I had several methods but these are the ones that I remember.Exhibit A: Be a blanket.One time I decided that I was too tired to get up for school. I contemplated the 45 minutes it would take me to get to school (If I caught the bus and train on time) plus that 1 hour it would take for me to get ready. I didn’t have an excuse ready for my mom so I went for the easiest solution… to become part of the blankets that were on my bed.In my mind this made sense since I had a lot of blankets. I would just hide under the pile and stay there until my mother and my brother left.This would have worked too if my brother didn’t walk in on me coming out for air!He ran to my mom and told her I was still home. I’m still mad at him for that one.Exhibit B: Updating emergency contact.Every year our homeroom teacher would give us a blank form to update our emergency contact information. This is where I took the chance to select a few adults who I trusted for actual emergencies and I left my own number as the main contact.One time I even tried to call in sick at the school and I tried so hard to fake the accent my mom has. The conversation went a little like this:Me: *terrible spanish accent* Elo, yes, cesilia no come to school yes? She has cough and hot! So bad.Secretary: Ah, that’s too bad. Tell Cesilia to tell her real mom to call the school, okay Cesilia?Me: *facepalm*
